What happened next?
Our first meeting will be a ‘get to know you’ session. Here your Counsellor will explain how we can work together, the methods we use and give you the opportunity to ask some questions. You may want to tell them what has brought you to counselling. we understand that this may feel embarrassing or uncomfortable with someone you don’t know there is no pressure, you can tell your Counsellor as much or as little as you are comfortable with.
It is important that both client and counsellor feel comfortable to take the counselling relationship forward, so building trust is a key element of a healthy therapeutic relationship; it may be that at the end of the first meeting, we decide that the approach isn’t for you, and that’s fine. If this is the case, we will be able to provide the details of other therapist or organisations which better suit your needs.
